- Downtown Bangor is a place where creativity, community, and commerce come together—and it thrives thanks to the energy and dedication of people like you. Whether it’s planting flowers, stringing lights, welcoming visitors, or helping with events, volunteers play a vital role in making Downtown Bangor vibrant and welcoming year-round.
From large-scale events like the Sidewalk Art Festivals and Downtown Countdown, to community favorites like the Summer Solstice Garden Party, Downtown Trick or Treat, and First Friday Art Walks, there are always ways to lend a hand and help bring Bangor to life.
Volunteers also support year-round initiatives that strengthen downtown’s identity:
-- Beautification efforts like the Adopt-A-Garden program, seasonal cleanup and planting days, and the Winter Lights program.
-- Creative placemaking through public art installations like the Umbrella Sky Project and Art Exchange Boxes.
-- Promotional efforts that include distributing downtown maps and guides, sharing stories through social media, and working with partners to bring more visitors downtown.
-- Community engagement through town halls, small business outreach, and activities that connect residents, workers, and visitors.

- We'd love to grow our base of core volunteers in beautification and events.
We'd also like to have positive folks in the community who are willing to capture moments Downtown that we could share online (like local influencers) - whether it's a great find while vintage shopping or a quiet moment by the river or a perfect sandwich. Downtown Bangor is big and we need help getting a wide array of the great moments that happen. - Requirements
- While our focus is on the Downtown Bangor district, anyone is welcome to volunteer!
